Becoming more informed
I'd like to make sure that my readers know about a very useful source of information that one can access via a computer. This is democracynow.org. This is based in New York and hosted by Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez. A fresh broadcast transmits Monday to Friday at 8am EST which is 1pm here. I thoroughly recommend accessing those broadcasts. These programmes are available outside those times of course via the Democracy Now! website or alternatively via the Livestream channel: www.livestream.com/democracynow.
Democracy Now! is particularly informative not only concerning the USA but the whole of Latin America. It also has good coverage of Palestine, Israel and Iran which is certainly not true of the BBC, CNN and Sky. It often has in-depth interviews with people that know what they're talking about such as Noam Chomsky, Ralph Nader and Michael Moore.
At the moment they are transmitting two-hour broadcasts from the Republican National Convention in Tampa and the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte. These are well worth watching as they incorporate top-flight commentators on what is really happening on the US political scene.
These programmes are broadcast both on video and audio and I find that I can blow up the video picture to fill the whole screen and using a high quality headset I can see and hear quite a lot of what is happening. I recommend it.
