A Memorable Programme

As so often, Democracy Now have produced a thought-provoking programme (21 March 2013). It tells the story of US ex-serviceman Tomas Young and also deals with the excellent documentary called Body of War. It also has fascinating footage of the Senate hearings in October 2002 in which 77 senators voted for war against Iraq and 23 voted against. One realises how inspiring senator Robert Byrd (now deceased) from West Virginia was. This one hour programme is one of the most moving I have seen, and I very much recommend it. Here is the link: http://www.democracynow.org/shows/2013/3/21

If one wants more about that programme, or indeed many other subjects, then you can find so much information on the website itself, which is http://www.democracynow.org/.

Hearing Link

In recent months I've become active in an organisation for hearing impaired people called Hearing Link. Formerly there was an organisation called Hearing Concern (which ceased some time ago) and another one called Link. These have now amalgamated into Hearing Link which is based in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

They have a very informative quarterly magazine called Hearing Link Matters and a very well constructed website. Here is the link: http://www.hearinglink.org/. If you look at this link you will be taken to an archive of at least the last two years' issues of HL's mag. Happy reading! http://www.hearinglink.org/magazine

I have been asked to do a fortnightly blog on HL's website. Currently there are the first two instalments of my rolling blog. I hope you find them interesting! http://www.hearinglink.org/blog/hearingloops

I would recommend that anyone with impaired hearing or with an interest in the subject of impaired hearing join Hearing Link and/or consult their website from time to time.
